What an exciting end to the Winter Term! Junk 2 Funk was amazing this year...the addition of the tents on the blacktop made it feel like a real Fashion Week event! The grade two students are also pumped to become presidents tomorrow and tell about all they've been learning. Please send any costumes and props in a bag with your child and we will assist in putting on the final touches before we go live...Come by anytime during the 2-2:45 window. We hope you can make it!
Reading/Writing/Spelling:
• Reading Workshop/Independent Reading: practice reading independently at "just right" level, with an emphasis on building stamina, journaling, and completion of books.
• Teacher/student conferencing about reading; fluency checks and comprehension book talks
• Superstar and birthday letters
• Writing Workshop: Fairy tale genre – In the final stages of editing, publishing, and sharing our stories.
• Read Aloud: Grace for President
• Fundations: Closed syllable rule and exceptions with long vowels (cold, bolt, mind, post ); R-controlled vowels
• Browsing Box: Rocks, Presidents, and Black History to compliment new units of study in Science and History
• Book talks: Several new additions to the class library. Special thanks to the Moms who have been helping to organize and level our books!
