Dear Grade 2 Student,
Welcome to Grade 2! We are very eager for you to arrive next week and look forward to getting to know you this year. You are probably a little curious about us too! During our morning meeting on the first day of school we will all have the opportunity to share a little about ourselves. Think about “who” you are, your passions, and your interests and be ready to share something about yourself you would like us to know about you. We look forward to learning a little about you and sharing our stories with you too.
We hope you have had a fun summer. Can you believe it is already time to start school again? They say, “Time flies when you are having fun,” so if the summer seemed to whiz by it was probably because you were having so much fun!
We are both excited to welcome you to the start of your Grade 2 year! We have already been hard at work getting the classroom ready and planning our school year together. There seems to be something missing in the classroom though. Do you know what that something is? It is YOU!
We look forward to meeting you and your parents on Tuesday, September 2 for an orientation about our school and your year in Grade 2. On Wednesday, September 3 we will begin a wonderful school year together! You may be feeling a little nervous about this new school year; starting a new grade can be scary, but it is also very exciting! Together, we will have a lot of fun learning and exploring new ideas throughout the year. It will be a terrific experience for all of us and we cannot wait to get the year started with you.
During the first week of school, it would be lots of fun for us to share some of our special summer experiences. Please bring one small photo, postcard, or little momento from your summer experience. We will do a writing activity, and share and display your item(s) on our “Summer Experience” bulletin board. We also look forward to sharing our summer adventures with you, too! It will be exciting to learn what we have all done over the last three months. As well, please bring in all of your summer homework (even if it is not fully finished). We would love to see the work you did!
Enjoy your final days of summer. We will see you soon!
Best wishes,
Mrs. Ford and Mr. Rogers
